Thinking about fostering?

Fostering FAQs

What does the organization supply to fosters?

We want to ensure that our fosters can provide the best care possible without worrying about the financial aspects. To support this, we supply all necessary food, medical care, and basic supplies like leashes, beds, and bowls. We believe in equipping our foster families with everything they need to create a nurturing environment for the animals.

How are medical expenses handled?

All medical expenses are covered by our organization but we do request that we be contacted prior to the visit. We have a network of veterinary partners who provide comprehensive care, from routine check-ups and vaccinations to any special treatments the animal might require. Should your foster pet require medical attention, we'll guide you through the process of getting them the care they need.

What is expected of me as a foster?

As a foster, your main role is to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for the animal. This involves daily care, such as feeding, exercising, and socializing the pet. We also look to our fosters to observe and report on the animal's behavior, health, and overall well-being to help us make the best plan for their future. Additionally, while not mandatory, you're encouraged to help with the animal's transition to a permanent home if you're able.

Concerns about financial responsibilities:

Fostering an animal is incredibly rewarding, and we aim to remove any barriers that might prevent someone from opening their home to a pet in need. By covering food, medical care, and supplies, we alleviate the financial burden, allowing our fosters to focus on providing care and love.

Support and resources available to fosters:

Our fosters are never alone. In addition to supplying physical items for the animal, we offer ongoing support and advice for any questions or concerns that arise. This includes access to training resources and a dedicated contact person within our organization who can assist with any foster-related inquiries.

Understanding the commitment required:

The length of a fostering period can vary depending on the animal's needs and circumstances, ranging from a few weeks to several months. We work closely with our fosters to ensure the arrangement fits within their lifestyle and capabilities. While fostering does require time and effort, the impact you can have on an animal's life is immeasurable.

Process of finding a permanent home for the animal:

Our team handles the adoption process, from conducting background checks to finding the perfect match. While fosters are not responsible for finding a permanent home, they play a crucial role in the process by providing valuable insights into the animal's personality and needs, helping ensure a successful placement.

Emotional support and advice for fosters:

We understand fostering can be an emotional experience, particularly when it's time to say goodbye. Our community of staff and experienced fosters offers emotional support and guidance to help you through the fostering journey.

By addressing these frequently asked questions, we hope to provide clarity and support for our incredible community of current and prospective fosters. If you have any more questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of animals in need.
